 Week 96 Leviticus 26:3-27:34 Overview
Our portion marks the conclusion of both the Holiness Code and the book of Vayikra or Leviticus. In the first part of the portion we address the final section of the Holiness Code with its extensive list of blessings and curses. In the final chapter of the book of Leviticus we discuss the system of evaluation for consecrated people, animals, and property given to the service of YHWH. Many modern scholars feel that this final chapter was appended to the book of Leviticus by later redactors. We shall see how this chapter is intrinsically related to the rest of the book and why it is intentionally located at the conclusion of the book of Leviticus.
