The Shavuot celebration in Denver was one of the most exciting spiritual events in which I have ever had the privilege to participate. From the moment that the chords chimed out of Paul Wilbur’s guitar until the last soggy saint dripped out of the impromptu mikvah (baptism) pool 24 hours after the meeting officially closed, this was a spiritual journey of discovering the spirit and gifts of Yahweh resident within the body of believers. Miracles of healing in both body and soul. Marriages and families healed and re-united. This was the kind of Feast that you dream could happen if the body of Messiah was unified in a common cause. Thankfully, a wheelchair was awaiting me in Newark upon our return flight from Israel. After our whirlwind spring tour of Israel, I spent most of the week in the doctor’s office nursing a strained knee and hoping to have the strength to enjoy a first dance with my daughter Sara as “Mrs. Benjamin Smith” in just one week. My days of recuperation with Judith and my four daughters in Colorado gave me time to reflect on the many blessings that I enjoy in spite of the battles in which I am engaged on multiple fronts.
